We welcome your suggestions for other “Disasters in the Valley”.

The events can either be natural disasters or man-made.  The only criteria are:

a) The event must have some connection to the Pioneer Valley (Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden counties of Massachusetts), and

b) The event must have affected the lives of multiple people.

For our purposes, wars, themselves, are not disasters.  However, specific events, like munitions explosions, the sinking of ships, airplane crashes, etc. would qualify.

If you’d like to add  to our project, please draft a 500-word (more or less) description of your disaster, explaining why it was remarkable or important and giving some details about the event.  Please also include a short, one- or two-sentence item to be included in the Timeline.  Weird disasters are welcome.

All submissions will be subject to editing by PVHN and PVHN reserves the right to not include your submission, but we really want to encourage your participation.
